Ending Sunday December 22nd at 10:47am PST on Bring a Trailer Auctions at NO RESERVE : 1993 TVR Chimaera 430 This 1993 TVR Chimaera 430 is said to have been owned by the TVR Car Club director in the UK before being acquired by the current owner in 2019 and imported to the US the following year. Power comes from a Rover-sourced 4.3-liter V8 and 5-speed manual transmission, and the steel backbone chassis has a fully independent coilover suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Finished in red over tan leather upholstery, the car features a three-position soft top with a removable roof panel in addition to an Alpine CD head unit, a Personal steering wheel, burl wood trim, and 15” front and 16” rear wheels. This Chimaera is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve in California with service records dating back to 2002 and a clean Idaho title. The Chimaera debuted at the 1992 Earl’s Court Motor Show and shares its steel backbone chassis with the contemporary Griffith. The two-piece soft top features a removable central roof panel and a folding rear section with a wraparound plastic window. This example’s fiberglass bodywork was refinished in metallic red under prior ownership. Chipped paint and rust under the lower edge of the soft top fabric can be viewed in the gallery. Silver-finished 15” front and 16” rear wheels are mounted with 205/55 and 225/50 Uniroyal RainSport 3 tires that were mounted in 2019. The car rides on coilovers all around, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The right-hand-drive cabin features bucket seats trimmed in tan leather that extends to the dashboard, center console, and door panels. An Alpine CD head unit is installed in the factory location, and additional appointments include a red leather shifter boot, power windows, polished sill plates, tan carpets with red binding, and an aluminum shifter knob, emergency brake handle, and turn signal stalk. Cracks are visible in the finish on the burl wood veneer trim, and wear on the seat upholstery can be viewed in the gallery. The leather-wrapped Personal steering wheel sits ahead of a 190-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 3,500 of which have been added under current ownership. The 4.3-liter Rover V8 was rated at 280 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Rover LT77 five-speed manual transmission. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.
